Martin Stewart engaged us all with the story of how Stewarts evolved from Scotland to Ferndown and then Christchurch over the course of 8 generations. His family is blessed with a vast archive of letters, wages books, photos and memorabilia which provide not just an insight into the evolution of the family business but also a window on social history.
From trees in Scotland to container plants and coffee shops, he explained how the business has moved with the times to remain successful through 2 World Wars and the onslaught of internet shopping. A most interesting evening.
